Privacy policy

The short version. Girl Math has no sign-up. It keeps the things you park, the photos you add and your choices, so you can decide later and see what you did not spend. If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email until we have told you the app is out. A confession you send here is kept without your name. Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or tracked across other apps. You can delete everything from the app at any time.
Who we are
Konstrukt is responsible for the data described here. For anything about your data, write to hello@konstrukt.studio.
What we keep
- An anonymous account. When you open the app the first time, it creates an account with no name, email or phone number. The app remembers it with a key stored in your iPhone's Keychain.
- What you park. For each thing: the name you type, its price, a link if you add one, the shop and where you saw it, when you parked it and when you decided.
- Photos you choose. Only the photo you take or pick from your library for an item, or the picture you share to Girl Math. The app does not look at the rest of your photos.
- What you share to Girl Math. When you share a page from another app, the share sheet reads that page's name, picture link and euro price, and keeps them with the thing you park. It reads nothing else from the page or the app.
- More about what you park. The mood you tag it with, if any, the return-by date if you set a return window, your saving goal and your past goals, and which things are on your gift list.
- How often you share. When you share your receipt, your recap, a goal or your gift list and the share goes through, we add one to a count and keep the date. Not what you shared, where, or with whom. It tells us whether people share the app, nothing more.
- When you use the app. When your account was made and when you last opened the app.
- Your choices. How long you like to wait, chosen on the first screens, and your default wait.
- Error reports. When something breaks in the app or on the server, a report of what broke is sent to a private error tracker (Sentry): the error, where in the app it happened, the iPhone model and the iOS version. It has no name, email, photos or the things you parked, and is only used to fix the problem.
- Sign in with Apple, if you use it. Apple gives us an identifier that lets us find your receipts again on a new phone. We do not ask Apple for your name or your email, so we do not have them.
Photo reading
When you take, pick from your library or paste a photo to add something, the photo is sent to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude. Its service reads what the item is and its price, and sends that back to fill in the name and price. Anthropic processes the photo in the United States under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. If the photo reading service is not set up or fails, you type the name instead.
Links you park and price drops
When you paste or share a link, your iPhone first opens the shop's page itself to read the product's name, photo and euro price, so the shop sees that visit like any other. If the shop blocks this or shows no price, the link is sent to Anthropic's service, in the United States, to read it instead. Every few days, parked things that have a link are checked the same way through Anthropic for their current euro price. When a parked thing gets cheaper, we keep the lower price with it and can tell you with a notification. Only the link is sent, not who you are.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, your iPhone gives the app a push token, which we keep with your account, with your iPhone's language (English or French), so we can tell you in it when something you parked gets cheaper. It is sent through Expo's push service, in the United States, and Apple, together with the notification's text: the thing's name and its old and new price. Turn notifications off in Settings and we can no longer reach you; deleting your account deletes the token.
Gift list
If you share your gift list, anyone with the link can see the names, photos, prices and shop links of the things you put on it, and can mark one as "I'll get this". We keep only that an item was claimed and when, not who claimed it. Stop sharing turns the link off and clears the claims.
The door on this website
If you chat with the bouncer on the home page, what you type is sent to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, in the United States, so its service can answer as the bouncer. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. We don't store the chat and it is not linked to you or to the app.
Waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep the email you give, and if you fill them in, your first name, where you shop on impulse, whether you use an iPhone or Android, and which link brought you to the site (for example TikTok or Instagram). We use them only to send you one email when the app is out, and to know how many people want an Android version. We delete the whole waitlist after that email, and at the latest on 31 March 2027. To be taken off before then, write to hello@konstrukt.studio. Joining the waitlist does not create an account in the app.
Confessions
If you confess your girl math on this website, we keep only what you write and which link brought you to the site, with the date. We ask for no name or email, so leave names out. By sending it you agree we may read it out, without saying who wrote it, in Girl Math's videos and posts. We delete confessions at the latest on 31 December 2027. Because we can't tell who wrote one, to have a confession removed, write to hello@konstrukt.studio with its words.
What stays on your iPhone
- Work math pay. The monthly take-home pay you enter for work math stays on your iPhone and is never sent to us.
- Reminders. Time's up reminders, decision day on Sunday evening and the monthly recap are scheduled on your iPhone as local notifications.
- Milestones and tips. Which milestones you have seen and which tips you closed stay on your iPhone.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no selling or renting data.
- No analytics or tracking tools, and no tracking across other apps or websites. Error reports are not used to study how you use the app.
- We do not read your screenshots, messages, contacts or location.
Why we keep it
Only to run the app for you: to show your list, remind you what is waiting, count what you did not spend, and bring your receipts back on a new phone if you saved them with Apple. This is necessary to provide the service you ask for. The waitlist is kept because you asked us to write to you, and you can withdraw that at any time.
Where it is stored
In the European Union. The app's server and the photos are hosted by Clever Cloud in Paris, France. The list of items is stored with MongoDB Atlas on Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt, Germany. Error reports go to a private Sentry server, hosted by OVH in France. Photos are private: they are only shown through links that expire within a week. Data travels encrypted between the app and the server.
The companies above host the data for us and may not use it for anything else. Apple handles Sign in with Apple under its own privacy policy. Two things leave the European Union: photos you add something from, and links the iPhone could not read or that are checked for price drops, are read by Anthropic in the United States (see Photo reading and Links you park); and price drop notifications pass through Expo in the United States (see Notifications).
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Waitlist emails are deleted after the launch email, at the latest on 31 March 2027. When you delete your account, your account, everything you parked and your photos are deleted straight away. The server's technical logs, which record requests but not their content, are kept by our host for a short period for security. Error reports are deleted after 90 days.
Your rights
You can see and change what you parked in the app, and delete everything with Account → Delete my account. You can also write to us to get a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used. You have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Girl Math is not meant for children under 16 and we do not knowingly keep data about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date. If a change affects what we keep, we will say so in the app.
